Karl Fredrik is a Gothenburg-based singer-songwriter with deep roots in Swedish rock. His journey began in the band LINK—precursor to Hardcore Superstar—where he met bassist Martin Sandvik. Today, Sandvik is his key producer and collaborator, a partnership anchored at their joint venture, Österlyckan Studios.
Their reunion kicked off when a fan sent old LINK demos to Hardcore Superstar. Impressed, the band re-recorded the tracks, leading Karl Fredrik to co-write on their album HCSS and record with producer Joe Barresi. Since then, the duo has kept busy at Österlyckan, balancing Karl Fredrik’s solo work with writing for Hardcore Superstar and producing other artists.
After years as a band guitarist and songwriter, he stepped into the spotlight a decade ago with his solo debut Ingenstans man, followed by Vi. Driven by a strong DIY ethic, he wrote, performed, produced, and mixed both records while creating the artwork and videos himself.
Having explored diverse genres, Karl Fredrik has truly found his home as an artist and songwriter. He thrives in the balance between heavy rock riffs, soft pop, and writing Swedish soul for other artists.
Now shifting his lyricism to English, Karl Fredrik is crafting feel-good rock/pop inspired by legends like Tom Petty, John Mayer, and Neil Young.
